Poroshenko has threatened to impede the Ukraine’s accession to NATO
No one can prevent Ukraine’s course for NATO membership. This was stated by the President Petro Poroshenko, commenting on the results of his visit to Brussels and participation in the NATO summit, reports TASS.
“Who will speak to us the language of blackmail, he would be in isolation,” — said the Ukrainian leader, commenting on the question regarding the position of Hungary, which announced the intention to block the country’s integration into NATO because of the acceptance of the language law in the country. According to him, Ukraine will defend its national interests.
“Nobody will be able to block Ukrainian integration into NATO or from outside, I mean Russia, or inside a “fifth column” or in the NATO”, — said the President.
Poroshenko noted that Kiev “is constantly approaching NATO membership” and no one “will not stop”. “The doors are open, support binding, and it gives us good prospects”, — he concluded.
Ukraine renounced its non-aligned status in December 2014. In June 2017 Kiev called foreign policy priority membership in NATO. However, in March this year, the special envoy of the US state Department for Affairs of Ukraine declared that the country is not ready to join the Alliance.
In September 2017 the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the law on education, which actually prohibits teaching in any language other than Ukrainian. Against the adoption of the law made by Hungary, Romania, Moldova, Bulgaria and Russia.
