Court of Tatarstan ordered the Ministry of interior for the death of the man of torture from 50 000 rubles

Tatarstan Supreme court on Thursday ruled that the interior Ministry 50 000 rbl. of indemnification of moral harm in favour of Sergey Drozdov, whose brother died after being tortured at an urban police Department, “Yudino”, the human rights organization “Area law”.

The amount increased five times in comparison to previously awarded to the Kirov district court of Kazan of compensation in this case in the amount of 10 000 RUB Drozdov asked for compensation of 2 million rubles.

“Meager compensation awarded at national level will be an additional argument in considering the complaint of Sergey Drozdov, who is already in the ECHR,” — said the head of the Kazan human rights centre Igor Sholokhov, representing the interests of the plaintiff.

The Deputy Director of the Kazan railway technical school of Pavel Drozdov on 1 February 2012 were taken to the police Department, “Yudino” of the interior Ministry in Kazan. According to the investigation, five police officers entered the chamber, struck the man and strikes, handcuffed, and bound him in a pose “swallow” with the help of belt and ropes, noted in the “Area law”. “In this position the man is a sprain of the joints of the hands and feet, pressure on the spine, which causes strong physical pain, — the human rights defenders. Eight months after the incident the defenders made a criminal case under article “Excess of powers of office with application of violence” (part 3 of article 286 of the criminal code) against the police. Law enforcement agencies four times took out the resolution on refusal in initiation and three of the resolution on termination of criminal proceedings, which have been consistently recognized by the court illegal.
