Merkel said the desire of NATO to have reasonable relations with Russia

German Chancellor Angela Merkel said that NATO wants to maintain relations with Russia and remain the guarantor of security for countries of the Alliance.

“Of course we want to have reasonable relations with Russia, which is why once again there will be negotiations in the Council Russia — NATO,” said Merkel’s weekly video podcast, which expanded on 7 July, the press service of the government of Germany.

The Chancellor said that the Alliance must show that it is determined to defend themselves. According to her, in recent years, the challenges facing NATO have changed greatly. The list of these calls she called including the annexation of Crimea to Russia and the conflict in the East of Ukraine, said TASS.

Today, NATO consists of 29 States, including USA, Spain, Holland, Italy, France, Germany, UK, Denmark, Czech Republic and Turkey.
