The FAS brought the case against Durex because of the advertising

The Federal Antimonopoly service (FAS) opened a case against the company Reckitt Benckiser, which owns Durex trademark. The reason is two commercials of condoms. In it, according to the Agency, gave false information.

The Agency refers to data of the Federal statistical observation in the sphere of health. According to them, in 2017, the rate of STDs in Russia amounted to 0.1% of the population.

The Ministry stressed that the statistical data that would confirm the statement from the video “Almost every second Russian had been infected by sexual infection” no.

As a conclusion, the FAS believes that the Durex ad, posted on the Federal channels, violates the law “On advertising”. According to him, the conscientious advertising must not contain untrue information about the results of research and testing.

The case is scheduled for July 5, 2018.

Reckitt Benckiser is a British company that produces products for home, health care and personal hygiene. 16 June 2016, Durex condoms this company disappeared from Russian stores. The reason was the decision of Roszdravnadzor, said that the products were not registered in a proper manner. However, on 17 June, the head of Roszdravnadzor Mikhail Murashko, during the St. Petersburg international economic forum (SPIEF) said that the office filed the documents for registration of new products.
