A rich gathering of lava on the slopes of the Fuego volcano in Guatemala forced suspension of rescue operations on the territory of the communities affected by the eruption, which killed almost 100 people. This was announced on Wednesday, the Agency EFE with reference to the statement of the National Institute of seismology and Volcanology (NISV).
The lava flow width of 30-40 meters and a height of 4 to 5 metres drains on the West side of the slope of the volcano, the statement said NESV. It notes the probability that “in the coming hours will happen again the gathering lava flows” in the same or in other districts.
Given this situation NISV to notify the national coordination centre for combating the consequences of natural disasters (Conred) to declare alert in areas where he created the threat. On the territory of the departments of Escuintla, Chimaltenango and Sacatepéquez that are most affected by the disaster, have not yet completed the search, still listed as missing to 197 people.
