The court sentenced the former Deputy to seven years in prison for fraud
MOSCOW, may 31 — RIA Novosti. The Zamoskvoretsky court of Moscow sentenced in absentia to 7 years in a General regime colony and a fine of 700 thousand rubles are in the international wanted list of former state Duma Deputy Ashot Yeghiazaryan, who is accused of swindle in especially large size, reports the correspondent of RIA Novosti news from the courtroom.
“The court decided: to recognize Ashot Yeghiazaryan guilty of committing a crime under part 4 of article 159 of the criminal code of the Russian Federation, to appoint him in absentia punishment in the form of 7 years of imprisonment with punishment serving in a General regime colony and a fine of 700 thousand rubles”, — announced the decision of judge Elena Averchenko.
Brother of Ashot — Artyom Yeghiazaryan, the court appointed 5 years in prison and a fine of 600 thousand rubles. Other defendants in Maxim Cleocin and Vitaly Gogokhiya was sentenced to 4 years imprisonment and a fine of 400 thousand.
Since November 2010 Yeghiazaryan is Federal, and since the end of December — in the international wanted list due to opened in Russia a criminal case of major fraud. The U.S. justice Department in 2013 denied the Prosecutor General’s office in the extradition of the former Deputy.
According to the Russian investigative bodies, the Deputy of the state Duma of three convocations Yeghiazaryan, along with three accomplices fraudulently acquired 20% of shares of CJSC “tsenturion the Alliance” totaling about 1.57 billion rubles. The state Duma in March 2011 agreed to the withdrawal of Deputy immunity and for his arrest. Yeghiazaryan himself claims to be a victim of “raider attacks”, the initiators of which was allegedly made by businessmen Suleyman Kerimov and Arkady Rotenberg as well as former Moscow mayor Yuri Luzhkov. In his opinion, the cause of the conflict was his participation in the project of reconstruction of hotel “Moscow”.
Later investigation opened concerning ex-the Deputy of the state Duma a new criminal case on fraud by almost 6 billion rubles. According to investigators, the defendants fraudulently forced Mikhail Ananiev, Manager of controlling block of shares of JSC “invest-the Centre” to arrange 80 thousand shares at these Yeghiazaryan persons, including his wife Natalia Nagolovu and informal chief of security Yegiazaryan Vladimir Zaitsev.
