The Deputy Pushkin is preparing amendments on sexual harassment amid a scandal with the Deputy Slutsky

The Deputy head of the Duma Committee on family Affairs Oksana Pushkina told RBC about the intention to amend the responsibility for sexual harassment in the speaker Vyacheslav Volodin, a bill on gender equality.

The Deputy reminded that the criminal code article 133 “Coercion to sexual actions”, but according to her, the norm does not actually work.

Oksana Pushkina said that the initiative was developed against the background of the scandal around the head of the international Affairs Committee of the Duma, Leonid Slutsky. Several journalists accused parliamentarian accused of harassment. In response, the party of Mr Slutsky, Vice-speaker from the LDPR Igor Lebedev told about the possibility of de-accreditation of those who distribute “slanderous information”.

“If there is evidence, bring the case to the end. It is rampant in our society”, — explained his position by Oksana Poushkina.

Vyacheslav Volodin, the bill is pending before the Duma since 2003. The document “On state guarantees of equal rights and freedoms of men and women” proposes to introduce in the government the quota for women in leadership. Men, in the case of a law, will be entitled to maternity leave. In addition, the bill proposes to monitor equal wages in both sexes. Vice speaker from the ruling “United Russia” Irina Yarovaya, however, opposed the initiative of Vyacheslav Volodin.
