The Briton drove the car for a beer 32000 km

Briton Ben Coombes once had a glass of beer in the pub of the city, Dartmoor and not a little bored. He desperately needed a new challenge, so the next morning he sat behind the wheel of his Roadster TVR Chimaera and decided to take a trip from the most Northern to the most southern bar on the planet!

His expedition 38-year-old Coombes called “pub to pub” (Pub2Pub). The British resident of Plymouth came all the way by car TVR Chimaera, who recently turned 20 years old. Journey through 21 countries took seven months and 20,000 miles — more than 32 thousand kilometers! It is encouraging that the green Roadster which the owner calls him Kermit (the frog from “the muppet show”), bravely endured transcontinental voyage, broken only once.

The northernmost on Earth is the bar in the hotel “Tulip”, which is, as is typical in the Russian mining town Piramida on the island of Spitsbergen archipelago Svalbard just 1126 miles from the North pole. Admiring the Soviet entourage and Russian hospitality, Coombes after a couple of glasses of beer marked the start of the expedition and departed from the most Northern to the most southern bar on the planet.

Along the coast of Scandinavia, he reached the British Southampton, loaded green Roadster on a ship and sailed away to new York. After arriving on the East coast of the United States, the British got behind the wheel of the TVR and raced across the country on the West coast. When they reached California, Ben headed for the final point of the route — the southernmost bar in the world on the Tierra del Fuego archipelago at the southern tip of South America.

Bar the Chilean Puerto Williams is the southernmost of a publicly — Coombes googled that Antarctica, too, there are bars, but they are all in closed settlements and impossible to get. However, the beer is on Tierra del Fuego, the British did not like, but this is the case where the process is more important than the result. In Nicaragua TVR Chimaera had to replace the clutch, otherwise the green Roadster which Ben considered “fragile”, handled the trip with no problems.
