Employees of the Russian nuclear centre in Sarov caught on the mining of cryptocurrencies
Moscow. 9 Feb. INTERFAX.RU — Engineers all-Russian research Institute of experimental physics (RFNC-VNIIEF) located in Sarov, Nizhny Novgorod region, detained for mining cryptocurrency in the workplace.
“Really was an attempt to unauthorized use of utility computing for personal purposes, including for the so-called mining”, — said Friday the Agency “Interfax” the head a press-services of the research Institute Tatyana Zalesskaya.
“Would-be miners” detained by the competent authorities. As far as we know, against them criminal case is brought, — said the interlocutor of the Agency.
“Such attempts have recently been registered in a number of major companies with large computing power. At our facilities they will be severely suppressed, it is technically futile and criminal activity,” said Zalessky. She did not specify the number of detained staff members.
“Interfax” does not yet have a review of the FSB in Nizhny Novgorod region on the incident.
The day before, 8 February, some media reported that mining of cryptocurrencies engineers center of Sarov used the power of a supercomputer.
In 2011 in the Nizhny Novgorod region in the Russian Federal nuclear center (Sarov) was put into operation the most powerful at that time, the supercomputer of the computing capacity of 1 petaflops.
