Poroshenko declared Ukraine’s energy independence
The President of Ukraine and microblogger Petro Poroshenko told his Twitter followers that the country off the hook “Gazprom”.
In addition, the head of state said that 2018 is the year of Ukraine’s energy independence.
Thus Poroshenko noted the verdict of the Stockholm arbitration in the gas dispute between Ukraine’s Naftogaz and Russia’s Gazprom.
The decision itself was rendered on 22 December 2017. Both companies interpreted the arbitration verdict in his favor. “Naftogaz of Ukraine” believes that the court overturned the principle of “take or pay” and cancelled the fine of $ 56 billion for a waiver of this rule.
“Gazprom” declares that he eventually won, as the court upheld the majority of claims for payment for gas from Ukraine.
The trial between the two companies was 2014. The current gas contract was signed in 2009 the agreement is for 10 years.
