Ringo Starr will receive the rank of knight
The drummer of the Beatles Ringo Starr to be knighted. As expected, he will receive the title to the so-called New Year Honours — the annual ceremony of distributing the Royal awards, which is traditionally held on 1 January.
Starr’s colleague on the legendary Liverpool Quartet — sir Paul McCartney — received a knighthood 20 years ago, in 1997, recalls The Mirror.
The publication says that Ringo last visited Buckingham Palace over half a century ago, in 1965, when received from the hands of Queen Elizabeth II the Order of the British Empire.
