Scientists have proposed to treat cancer with sperm
MOSCOW, 16 Dec — RIA Novosti. German scientists have learned to use the sperm for the treatment of cancer. The study is published in the scientific journal ACS Nano.
The staff of the Institute of physics of solids and materials the name of Leibniz in Dresden conducted an experiment in which using the sperm of the point delivered anticancer drug (doxorubicin) to the affected tissue of the uterus. Gametes were attached to the walls of the tumor and saturated it with antibiotic.
In the end, for three days it was destroyed about 87 per cent of malignant cells.
Doxorubicin is commonly used in chemotherapy. Along with harmful tissues of the drug and destroys healthy cells, causing a number of side effects, including nausea. Because of these effects the amount of chemo is strictly limited. Targeted delivery of the drug using sperm would help to avoid side effects from destroying the healthy cells.
