Weapons supplied by the United States to Syrian rebels could fall into the hands of militants of the terrorist organization “Islamic state” (IG, is prohibited in Russia). This follows from the report submitted by the British organization Conflict Armament Research (CAR), which monitors arms transfers.
The researchers studied nearly 40 thousand firearms and ammunition found in the territory that was occupied by the militants. As noted in the report, all the weapons the jihadists can abduct from the Syrian rebels comes just a few weeks after they got it from US.
As detailed in the report, most found the ISIS 73-mm rockets manufactured in Romania, Bulgaria and Iran. In particular, we are talking about missiles, which the United States purchased from Romania in 2013 and 2014 — the containers with the corresponding batch number was discovered in Eastern Syria and in Iraqi city of Fallujah. According to the data obtained CAR from Romanian officials, the terms of the agreement provided the agreement under which the United States had no right to re-export the purchased weapons.
It also became known that on 12 December 2015 Bulgaria exported to the United States anti-missile systems, which were then handed over to the rebels. However, after 59 days in the Iraqi Federal police found the wreckage of one of these complexes after the battle in the city of Ramadi.
As a result, the report notes, in the hands of the militants got weapons that began to threaten the forces of the international antiterrorist coalition led by the United States.
In early October, Pentagon spokesman Eric Pahon said that the US does not supply arms to Islamic state and other radical groups in Syria. According to him, this information — propaganda campaign Russia and the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, arranged for the sake of discrediting the USA and actions of the international coalition.
