Russia’s Ambassador to the U.S. visited the Russian Consulate General in San Francisco

Russia’s Ambassador to Washington Anatoly Antonov on Friday inspected the outside of the building of the Russian Consulate General in San Francisco and the residence of the Consul General.

“I looked at my building, it’s a Russian building, it is still Russian property”, — quotes Antonova TASS.

He said that he had sent a request to enter the building, but the answer was negative. “I don’t understand how I threaten U.S. security, when Russian property” — Antonov said, adding that the U.S. side has not given any explanation about this.

The Ambassador expressed hope that Russia will be able to return his diplomatic property and to restore the activity of the Consulate General. “I am very pleased that we have such a property in San Francisco,” added Antonov.

The U.S. government September 2 closed Consulate General of Russia in San Francisco and sales offices in Washington and new York. Two of these buildings are state property in Russia and have diplomatic immunity, the third Moscow rented.
