The Prosecutor General declared “Open Russia” junk organization
The office concluded that the organization had been working to discredit the Russian elections.
Moscow. April 26. INTERFAX.RU — Russian Prosecutor General’s office decided on the recognition of the undesirable on the territory of Russia activities of several foreign NGOs told “Interfax” the official representative of the Supervisory Department Alexander Kurennoy.
“The results of the study of the material received in the state office of public Prosecutor of the Russian Federation on 26 April a decision on the recognition of the undesirable on the territory of the Russian Federation activities of foreign non-governmental organizations: “Open Russia” (UK), “Institute of contemporary Russia” (USA) and the social network movement “Open Russia” (Britain),” said Kurennoy.
These organizations, he said, “carried out on the territory of the Russian Federation, special programs and projects in order to discredit the results held in Russia elections, recognition of their results illegitimate”. Moreover, the Prosecutor’s office decided that “their activities are aimed at instigating protests and destabilization of the political situation that poses a threat to the foundations of the constitutional system of the Russian Federation and state security”.

“Information about the decision sent to the Ministry of justice of Russia to include these organizations in the list of foreign and international non-governmental organizations whose activities are deemed undesirable on the territory of the Russian Federation,” said Kurennoy. The law on spam in Russia, foreign and international non-governmental organizations was adopted in may 2015.
According to the law, the junk can be recognized as activities of foreign or international non-governmental organizations that threaten the foundations of the constitutional system of the Russian Federation, the country’s defense or security of the state. The decision to ban undesirable organizations to implement programmes and projects on the territory of the Russian Federation is taken by the Prosecutor General’s office. This must be done in coordination with the foreign Ministry. There is a possibility of exception from the list is undesirable.
The list of such NGOs leads the Ministry of justice of Russia on the basis of the decision of the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation. The recognition of undesirable activities of the organization shall entail the refusal to conduct operations with monetary funds, other property, the ban on the creation of the territory of the Russian Federation of structural subdivisions of the organization, other consequences. All, according to the Prosecutor General, to date, undesirable foreign NGOs on the territory of the Russian Federation declared seven foreign organizations.
