This disease symptoms like feverish form of tick-borne encephalitis, but requires a different treatment.

Russian scientists have discovered a new species of tick-borne borreliosis, which amounts to half of the cases of this disease in Russia, and which is easy to confuse the symptoms with tick-borne encephalitis. This was reported on Tuesday TASS doctor of biological Sciences, head of laboratory of natural focal infections, Central research Institute TSNII of epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor, Aleksandr Platonov.
The first agent Borrelia Miyamotoi was opened in Japan in 1995.
“I took it from nature. A natural focal infection. This is not the case when a new territory is filled in with the microorganism, or when the non-pathogenic mutates and becomes pathogenic. This, I think, we had in Russia, and likewise in Europe and North America, ever,” he said.
According to Platonov, the disease caused by the pathogen Borrelia Miyamotoi, for symptoms like feverish form of tick-borne encephalitis, but requires a different treatment, as a rule, the same drugs that Lyme disease, tick-borne, classic borelioza.
“One of the hallmarks of Lyme disease is erythema migrans. When we started at the beginning of the new Millennium, Lyme disease, unexpectedly found that in the textbooks is written incorrectly. On the territory of Russia up to 50% of Ixodes tick-borne borreliosis erythema migrans no no,” — said the expert.
To determine the type of the pathogen can specific RT-PCR tests. “We are now doing, and serological tests for this new microbe. Soon it will be possible to use antibodies to this pathogen. Well, how soon will we develop for six months or a year, but then again the registration procedure,” — said the scientist.

According to official data, from March 16, 2017 in a medical institution on the territory of the Russian Federation appealed 6900 people about tick bites. The Department also said that this figure corresponds to the average level.

In the framework of a preventive and anti-epidemic measures, the CPS also conducts acaricidal treatment. At the moment, has already processed more than 6.3 thousand hectares.
