Assad accused the US of trying to overthrow the Syrian government

Bashar Al-Assad

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad believes that the US will do everything to overthrow the current government in his country. He stated this in an interview with RIA Novosti.

“Their goal is to change the government, to overthrow the government and insert their puppets, so they will do everything that the end justifies the means: no values, no morals no. Can happen anything,” stated Assad.

Previously on April 21, Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov has condemned attempts to change the Syrian regime. “I think this is a very serious situation because it is now apparent that the false information that chemical weapons were used by the Syrian government, is used in order to move away from the implementation of resolution 2254 [UN Security Council], which provides a political settlement with the participation of all Syrian parties, and to switch to a long-cherished idea of regime change”, he said.

Two days earlier, Lavrov said that Russia considers the incident with the alleged chemical attack in Khan Sheyhun as a provocation aimed at undermining the ceasefire and the political process in the country.

The week before the US President Donald trump said that he plans to “enter” in Syria despite air strikes inflicted by the Syrian military base. “We are not going to Syria,” said trump. “But when I see people using terrible, terrible chemical weapons, and I see these beautiful children, dead, on his father’s hands, or you see the children suffocate to death…” — he said. Trump also criticized Moscow for supporting Assad. “If Russia came and supported this animal, there wouldn’t be problems,” he said.

In reply comments, the Syrian foreign Ministry said: “If you are an animal, do not think that everyone else is the same”.

April 7, with US Navy ships in the Mediterranean had suffered a rocket attack on the airfield shirt used by Syrian government aircraft. The target were fired 58 cruise missiles. It was made after April 4, the Syrian opposition said about the alleged use loyal to President Bashar al-Assad’s forces of chemical weapons in Idlib province, resulting in 87 people were killed and over 200 injured. Damascus denies any involvement in the incident.
