The ECHR has awarded three million euros to the relatives of the victims of the terrorist attack in Beslan

The European court of human rights (ECHR) ordered Russia to pay nearly three million euros to the relatives of the victims of the terrorist attack in Beslan. This was reported on the website of the court.

“The court ruled that Russia must pay the applicants a total of 2,995 million euros as compensation for moral damage, as well as 88 thousand Euro to the representatives of the plaintiffs as compensation for litigation costs”, — stated in the message of the court.

It is noted that in case there were more than 400 applicants. The plaintiffs claimed that the state did not conduct a proper investigation of the events, and that many aspects of the planning and management of the negotiations with the terrorists, and rescue operations had disadvantages.

In July 2015, the ECHR found violations of the right to life and to an effective remedy at the suit of the “Mothers of Beslan” to Russia. At the same time, 51 of the complaint of the plaintiff, the court declared inadmissible for consideration. The grievance hearing is October 2014.

High school No. 1 in Beslan was seized by terrorists on 1 September 2004. For three days the militants held more than 1,200 people in the gym without food and water. Some of the hostages were shot, some died in the explosions and during the assault undertaken by the security forces. Only in the attack, died, 334 persons, including more than 180 children and freeing their staff of the Ministry and the FSB. Two weeks after the events in Beslan, responsibility for the attack claimed by one of the leaders of Chechen separatists Shamil Basayev.
