“He confessed to committing terrorist crimes,” said attorney Akilov.
Earlier, the head of the local police Dan Eliasson said that the police had some evidence against a suspect.
“As for investigations, I am confident that we have arrested the man who was driving a truck (used for attack — if),” — said Eliasson.
According to The Local law enforcement authorities suspect that the 39-year-old Akilov sympathized with the jihadists. In Sweden he worked as a Builder. Some time ago Akilov has applied for his permanent residence permit in the country, but he was denied.
Earlier, the head of the security police of Sweden Andres Thornburg reported that last year the police had received information about Akilov, however, they were not related to extremism and was, in his words, “a minor character”.
Last Friday in Central Stockholm, a terrorist truck had intentionally run over pedestrians in Central Stockholm. In the attack four people were killed, 15 were injured. Prime Minister Stefan lofven called the incident a terrorist attack.
