The actress from “Sex and the city” became a goodwill Ambassador for the UN

UN, April 6. /Offset. TASS Oleg Zelenin/. American actress Kristin Davis, known for the role of Charlotte York in the television series “Sex and the city,” appointed a goodwill Ambassador for the Management of the UN high Commissioner for refugees (UNHCR).

This was reported to journalists by the official representative of the Secretary-General of the world organization Stefan Dujarric.

“American actress Kristin Davis, one of the stars of the television series “Sex and the city”, was appointed goodwill Ambassador of the high Commissioner of UN on refugees”, — he said.

As explained in the UNHCR, Davis has partnered with the UN for three years. In 2015, she visited the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Uganda, where he met with refugees from southern Sudan. Last year the actress was helping to collect donations for assisting victims of sexual violence in the DRC.

Davis accepted the appointment as goodwill Ambassador of the UN with gratitude. “I’m glad to be a part of this amazing organization”, — quotes its words the official website of the UNHCR. The actress recalled that there are more than 65 million refugees, and encouraged to remember that behind these numbers lurk the real people and their stories.

52-year-old Davis starred in a dozen different TV series, appearing in them in the main, and in small roles, as well as in two dozen films, but widely known thanks to the filming of “Sex and the city.” The actress has never been married, but has a foster daughter. In an interview with the American journal of Health (“Health”) in 2008, Davis admitted that undergoing treatment for alcoholism.
