On the smallest inhabited island fit only the house and tree
Island just room-inaf on the St. Lawrence river in the United States was less than the Bishop rock, which was considered the smallest inhabited island in the world. This publication reports the Daily Mail.
The area of the island is 306.6 square meters. In 1950 it acquired the American family, Sisland. The new owners have built a small country house and planted a tree. The remaining space is barely fit three chairs for a picnic that was put before the porch.
It Seslendi named the island just room-inaf (“fit”). To them it was called the Hub. Just room-inaf less than half of Bishop rock, which is now recorded in the Guinness Book of records as the smallest island with a building.
Bishop rock is located in the Atlantic ocean about 45 kilometers from the British Cornish. In the XIX century it was built a lighthouse with a height of 49 meters.
In addition to the dimensions, it is known that in 1875, near it hit a reef and sank the German sailing ship “Schiller” — the biggest vessel of that time. Killed 335 passengers and crew members.
