Politico: the United States will impose sanctions against Russia for breach of INF Treaty
WASHINGTON, 9 Dec. /TASS/. The administration of U.S. President Donald trump will impose new sanctions against Russia for violating the Treaty on intermediate and shorter-range missiles (INF Treaty). This was reported on Friday the newspaper Politico, citing a source in the administration.
According to an unnamed representative of the administration of high rank, restriction will be imposed by the Department of Commerce against Russian companies that allegedly had provided technological assistance in the development prohibited by the Treaty of cruise missiles. As the source explained, the decision to introduce new sanctions against Russian organizations was adopted by the national security Council (NSC) at the White house. By introducing these limitations, the us administration wants to “change the economic plans” the Russian government, says the publication.
Earlier, the Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov at a press conference in Vienna after participating in the meeting of the Council of OSCE foreign Ministers called the accusations of Russia violating the INF Treaty unfounded, and not worthy of attention. First U.S. accused Russia of violating the INF Treaty in July 2014. Then Washington has repeatedly reiterated that statement, which Moscow has expressed disagreement, noting that the statements of the American side no specifics. Russia puts U.S. counter-claim for the implementation of the INF Treaty.
