The U.S. Embassy in Russia will resume issuing visas in the Russian regions

U.S. Ambassador to Russia John huntsman told “Kommersant” that on December 11, the American Consulate in St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg and Vladivostok will resume issuing visas to Russian citizens.

We will remind, on August 23 of the US diplomatic representation in the regions of the Russian Federation ceased to issue visas. In Moscow, delivery of documents resumed on 1 September. Termination of registration of visas in the regions, the state Department explained the lack of staff.

Complications with the issuance of U.S. visas began after the diplomatic conflict between Russia and the United States. July 28, the Russian authorities demanded to reduce number of diplomats from the United States to 455 people.

In response, the state Department suspended the registration of documents in Russia and demanded to close the Russian Consulate General in San Francisco and the Russian trade representation in Washington and new York. Dispute over diplomatic property of Russia in USA is still ongoing.
