Soviet architecture is back in fashion. Young people are crazy about her
The old walls.
The USSR existed from 1922 to 1991, leaving to remember her by, among other things, cultural heritage, the extent of which will not challenge any supporter, nor the opponent of the system. But there is a specific genre that hardly regarded seriously by contemporaries, at least at the end of the Union — monumentalista.
Rare Soviet citizen from the 80’s would stand a mosaic or a mural depicting ardent of the builders of communism. Now, at the end of the second decade of the XXI century, the Soviet decor is nostalgic even for those who have never lived in that time.
Eva Rukhin, journalist and curator of exhibitions, maintains a blog, “concrete and pieces”, which can be called a real gift to fans of the genre. In his Instagram Rukhin collects photographs of Soviet buildings from different cities of Russia, presenting them as conceptual patterns, which you can watch endlessly, at least, so say her followers of all ages. “Ribbon.ru” offers a journey through Rohini compiled the map already defunct Soviet Union.

Vyshnevolotskiy city House of pioneers (now the House of children’s creativity), 1975, “the Circle of model airplanes”. Especially if young modelers made so sad, or so it seems now, when the old Soviet mosaics and bas-reliefs slowly decay and go back in time? The second one — if you look closely, many of the frames in the blog of Eva Rohini breathes sadness, as if works of monumentality foresee his future destiny. However, in the last decade, the interest in this genre is back again and this promises the old walls a chance at a second life.
