PACE said that not writing about Russia “six floors”

MOSCOW, 9 Jan — RIA Novosti. The parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe in a letter addressed to Russia with a proposal to form a delegation to participate in the winter session were not talking about the “principle six of the sexes”, but only on the balanced representation of women and men, explained to RIA Novosti in the Assembly.

Earlier some mass media with reference to the Vice-speaker of the state Duma Peter Tolstoy said that the PACE letter to the state Duma proposed to form a delegation to participate in the winter session, “taking into account the division of the senators and deputies of the six floors”.

“In the document were not discussed on six floors, only on the balanced representation of women and men in the same proportions as the national Parliament”, — said the interlocutor of the Agency. The parliamentary Assembly noted that the text of the letter was not different from the earlier similar letters.

“The Secretary General PACE sends this letter every year, it is standard,” — said the press service of the Assembly. The press service reminded that this is in accordance with rule six, paragraph two of the rules of procedure of the Assembly.

The Russian delegation in PACE in April 2014 was denied the right to vote because of events in Ukraine and the reunification of the Crimea with Russia. In 2015, the PACE has twice considered the question of the restoration of Russian delegation’s credentials, but then the sanctions became tougher. In response, the Russian delegation said the refusal to work under such conditions, and in 2016-2018 did not request confirmation of their authority due to the persistence in Strasbourg anti-Russian sentiment. The Russian side proposed to amend the regulations of the Assembly position, no one has the right to deprive the authority of any national delegation.
