The Hebrides breed of sheep known for its unusual appearance. These animals have coarse hair, black in color, and their head can decorate two pairs of horns.

Hebrides sheep common in Scotland. They are much smaller than the others, and their relatives: females weigh 40 kg while the lambs are about 50-60 kg.
These animals are very hardy, they can graze on diverse pastures. The meat and fat. sheep have low cholesterol, and therefore are highly valued.

Interestingly, the Hebrides until the 19th century, sheep had the most diverse color. But with the dramatic reduction in the number of the gene for black color became dominant.

In 1973, the Hebrides sheep were entered in the lists of rare species. Today, these creatures are protected, and farms are grown mainly as an ornamental animals.
