Electronic cigarettes lead to nicotine addiction, said the health Ministry
MOSCOW, Aug 5 — RIA Novosti. Electronic cigarettes lead people to nicotine addiction, more than 80% of those who tried to quit Smoking using them, are unable to do so, said Deputy Minister of health of Russia Oleg Salagay.
“We have data of our center for preventive medicine, which suggests that more than 80% of those who use e-cigarettes, are those who are using them quit Smoking,” said Salagay, the radio station “Moscow speaking”.
Threat is the fact that e-cigarettes today are the source of people’s engagement in nicotine dependence, the Deputy Minister said.
“A lot of people start with e-cigarettes, and then use the technology to double intake, or switching to conventional tobacco products,” said Salagay.
He noted that currently the world is not enough scientific evidence to say that electronic cigarettes are less harmful than conventional tobacco products.
