“United Russia” proposed to introduce liability for individuals registered as foreign agents
The Deputy of “United Russia” Sergei Boyarsky, speaking at a meeting of the state Duma, proposed to introduce responsibility for individuals as foreign agents.
He spoke on the situation with the Russian woman Marie Boutin, detained in the United States.
“In Russia, provided only administrative punishment for violation of the law on foreign agents, moreover, these may be recognized only legal entities, but not physical. However, colleagues, it’s in our hands, we all can change,” said Mr. Boyarsky (quoted by “Interfax”).
We will remind, the Russian Maria Butina in the US are accused of conspiracy to commit an agent of a foreign government without registering with the U.S. Department of justice, as well as directly in the work of a foreign agent. On set of charges to it threatens till 15 years of prison. The Russian insists that he is innocent, Russian authorities believe the accusations against her far-fetched.
In December 2017, the state Duma Pyotr Tolstoy and Leonid Levin, and senators Andrei Klishas and Lyudmila Bokova in the Duma introduced a bill according to which registered as a foreign agent may be deemed to be individuals who receive money from abroad and distribute their information.
