The President of the United States Donald trump spoke in favor of the establishment of Washington and London’s relations with Moscow and Beijing, saying he believes it is possible “to get along very well” with Russian President Vladimir Putin. He declared it in interview to the journalist of the TV company ITV to Piers Morgan, excerpts of which were published in the newspaper The Mail on Sunday.
“I think that we might very well get along [with Putin]. Someone said: are you friends or enemies? I say, well, it is still too early to say, but right now I think we are rivals, but for the United States and, frankly, for Britain and for other [countries] to get along with Russia and China and other places [countries]… it is a good, not a bad deal. This is a really good thing,” said trump.
The US President also expressed the view that Putin should respect the fact that NATO members have done to strengthen the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. “We now have a strong NATO than it has been for many years. In the past year, from the moment I was elected, we raised an additional $34 billion And if we add to this all the other things I have done, President Putin must respect what we’ve done,” said trump, answering the question, if he was going to withdraw from NATO in order to please the President of Russia.
