To relax not to work
Otpuskaly: Russia threatens a new “infection” from the West.
Is there a document nicer to look at than a signed statement on holiday? It turns out that not all the thought of staying is causing joyful anticipation. U.S. residents are increasingly abandoning the legal right to abandon it for a few weeks. At the beginning of the summer holidays portal iz.ru looking for the root of the problem and is trying to present, is it relevant to the Russian reality. And anyway, what happens if you take and stop to rest?
A new study conducted by British company Kimble Applications (the manufacturer of the software for automation of the workflow) eloquently called the No Vacation Nation. The experts surveyed 1200 U.S. workers employed full time to learn their habits and preferences in relation to the holiday season. Found out that in 2017 47% of Americans are not taken advantage of all provisions for vacation days, and 21% of the respondents did working a whole week for potential sale.
This situation is quite familiar to Russians — many people can boast for weeks or even months of accumulated cancelled vacations and leaves of absence. But perhaps our overseas office brethren of different motives in order to selflessly burn at work?
I see no reason not to work
The main reasons for the reluctance to go on holiday American study participants cited the following:
— High workload and acute deadlines (27%);.
— Pressure from management requiring or hinting at the inappropriateness of the leave (19%);.
Hope that zeal will be appreciated and will result in the increase in positions or salaries (14%);.
The fear of a lot of cases you will have to clean up upon return from vacation (13%).
More than a quarter of respondents are nervous, making a statement on holiday. The majority are more worried about “the economy” in his absence, others simply fear that the document will not be signed.
The researchers make the General conclusion that the main causes of tuscobia are: negative attitude of management to rest of staff, high workload and socio-cultural pressure (disapproval of idleness).
Age matter
Two out of ten American workers willing to work without rest for a year, if it is guaranteed to be crowned career growth. Of Millennials accepted to stigmatize lazy, but the numbers from Kimble Applications say just the opposite. People aged 25 to 34 years are more committed to the idea that the refusal of leave will result in career success: so says a quarter of respondents in this age group. But their parent’s generation, Americans aged 55 to 64 years, less willing to give up your holiday for the sake of success (17% of respondents this age).
The Internet ruined everything
With the release of these days there’s another problem: the office has shrunk to the size of a smartphone and the work is always with you — and on the beach, and excursions — mail applications and messengers. Workers recognized that it is difficult to fully disconnect from the labor process. While someone remotely controls what is happening in the office in good faith, not being able to believe that colleagues do without assistance within a couple of weeks. And someone would be happy to relax, but the authorities are waiting for that and the resort employee is available for communications. Almost a fifth of checks, how are things going in the office every day and almost a third of the notes that does it “from time to time.”
