Russian President Vladimir Putin on 27 October 2000, he signed a Decree establishing June 8, the professional holiday — Day of the social worker. According to Rosstat, on January 1, 2018, the number of social workers in Russia amounted to almost 1.3 million people. However, due to the aging population burden on the caseworkers every year will increase. So, according to the forecast of Rosstat, the share of pensioners in 2025 will increase from the current 25.5 percent to 27.4% and amount to 40.2 million people.
“In this regard, the issues of long-term care for the elderly will be one of the important places in the system of social protection of the population”, — stated in the report of the Ministry of labour published on the Agency’s website.
