Turkey is going to send astronauts into space

ANKARA, June 8. /TASS/. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced plans on sending into space Turkish astronauts.

“We are working to launch satellites into space, perhaps it is because of our youth we come to the time when we can send into space and the astronaut,” said Erdogan during a meeting with representatives of youth organizations, which was held at the presidential Palace in Ankara. His words resulted in a Friday newspaper Diken.

In late may, the Azerbaijani news Agency Trend, citing a source in the Turkish Cabinet announced about plans of Turkey to launch its own astronaut program after 2023. For the implementation of this project, Ankara intends to spend about $6 billion legal basis for this was prepared in the fall of 2016. This is one of the largest and most ambitious projects in modern Turkey.
