Researchers analyzed 30 studies, involving 2,500 people. All these people were sitting on a diet in which pasta was the only source of carbohydrates in their diet. On average, participants ate 3 servings a week (one portion is about polchashki). As a result, for four months, the subjects lost an average of one pound.

The pasta low glycemic index, than can be explained by their dietary effect. Unlike most of the refined carbohydrates that are quickly absorbed into the blood, they are digested more slowly and do not cause a rapid rise in blood sugar levels, and therefore does not lead to the deposition of fat, experts explain.

At the same time, scientists admit that the study participants ate food with a low glycemic index. To understand how pasta affects the weight in other diets, further research is required.

Earlier, British experts said that the pasta is quite possible to have for dinner.
