The General staff instructed to suppress the signals of the 2G and 3G on the bases of the Russian Federation in Syria

The chief of the 8th Directorate of the General staff of the Russian Armed forces Lieutenant-General Yuri Kuznetsov instructed to ensure the suppression of the signals of the 2G and 3G on the airbases Hamim and Tartus in Syria. It is reported by RBC with reference to the relevant document, signed by Mr Kuznetsov 2 Feb. The authenticity of the document was confirmed by a source in the defense Ministry.

Responsible for the execution of the order assigned control of troops, electronic warfare, headed by major General Yury Lastochkin. The document States that at the base Hamim suppression devices shall be provided until March 30, and throughout the Russian military presence in Syria, including on the basis of Tartus, until 1 July.

The source of RBC in the Ministry of defence argues that the order of the General staff linked to the attacks of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), which “can go to the specific signal on the telephone”. This information is not officially confirmed.

In addition, according to the document, the main office of communications instructed the defense Ministry to increase the base Hamim number of public stations to conduct open international negotiations, as well as an Internet room with 30 places for military communication with relatives. Such a room, only five places, commissioned to create on the basis of Tartus. This order shall be enforced until July 1.

In early January, the Ministry of defense reported about the attack of radical Islamists on Russian military facilities. According to the military, to attack the base Hamim and security in Syria, militants used 13 strike UAVs with mounted improvised explosive devices (IEDs). None of them their goals are not reached.
