Egypt’s military has started anti-terrorist operation in the Sinai
The army and police of Egypt launched a major anti-terrorist operation in the Sinai Peninsula and other parts of the country.
“This morning law enforcement authorities have embarked on a comprehensive operation against terrorists and criminal elements and organizations in the Northern and Central areas of Sinai” — leads Reuters words of the representative of the Egyptian armed forces. He added that the operation includes the Nile Delta and the desert areas to the West of it.
Last week The New York Times reported that Israel and Egypt together for over two years now bombing militants in the Sinai. A secret operation was begun after the crash of the Russian Airbus A321 aircraft in 2015. An air campaign was approved by the President of Egypt Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.
Previously, “Kommersant” became known that in Egypt were the first court hearing on claims of $90 million submitted by the relatives of the passengers of the airliner A321. They rely on the additional compensation from the carrier and the insurance company.
