The Georgian interior Ministry has prepared a draft toughening punishment for “thieves»
TBILISI, February 4th — RIA Novosti. The government of Georgia prepared a bill according to which criminal punishment for “thieves in law” tightens up to 15 years in prison, said Deputy Minister of internal Affairs Natia Mezvrishvili.
At the moment in Georgia membership “in the thieves ‘community” is punishable by imprisonment from five to eight years, and “thieves in law” faces a prison term of from seven to ten years.
“Once these individuals cross the border of Georgia, will be their detention by the police. This bill involves all the tougher measures against the “thieves in law” and persons associated with them. In particular, the “thieves in law” and members of “thieves ‘ community” will be punished with a prison term of 15 years,” said Mezvrishvili.
A package of legislative amendments in the coming days will send on consideration in country Parliament.
“Thieves in law” — a specific criminal structure, characteristic only for the countries of the former USSR. “Thieves in law” occupy the highest position in the hierarchy of the criminal world.
