Climatologist predicted the increase in the number of hazardous weather phenomena in 2018
MOSCOW, 30 Jul — RIA Novosti. The intensity of dangerous meteorological phenomena in Russia in 2018 will increase, while weather is expected unstable, told RIA Novosti the head of the climate programme of the world wildlife Fund (WWF) of Russia Alexey Kokorin.
“The intensity of dangerous meteorological phenomena will increase. We need to be ready for it, it is a natural process. The intensity of anomalous phenomena is growing is a fact, and this will continue. Whether to grow their number depends on the method of calculation,” — said Kokorin.
According to him, the increase of the intensity of dangerous phenomena will not develop into some kind of crash, but will cause more damage. In this regard, it is important to be prepared for such phenomena. The total number of hydrometeorological phenomena in Russia will remain roughly at the same level: 550-600.
“Statistics on hazardous hydrometeorological phenomena counts phenomena that caused damage. It really depends on when the phenomenon happened at night or in the middle of the day, failed to prepare or failed,” explained climatologist.
He also explained that the year 2017 is likely to present a pleasant surprise, as despite the storm in Moscow at the end of may, hazard was less.
