WASHINGTON, 26 Dec — RIA Novosti. Three major American cities — new York, San Francisco and Philadelphia — on Tuesday filed a lawsuit in Federal court in Virginia against the Department of defense due to the fact that many soldiers who were forbidden to own weapons, not made in a national system of inspections FBI, reports news portal UPI.
The publication notes that this allowed the former member of the air force to purchase a high-powered rifle and kill 26 people in Texas of the Church.
“This mistake on the part of the Pentagon led to the innocent victims,” said new York mayor bill de Blasio.
The incident occurred on 5 November. Devin Kelly opened fire on the congregation at the Baptist Church in Sutherland springs near San Antonio, killing more than two dozen people. After a car chase and shootout with the local resident he killed himself.
According to investigators, Kelly bought a semi-automatic rifle Ruger AR-556 in April 2016 in Texas. By the time of his condemnation he retired from the U.S. air force and was court-martialled on charges of violence against his wife and stepson, and that he threatened family members with a loaded weapon.
