Media: died actress from the movie “Sound of music” Heather Menzies-Urich
According to Variety magazine, four weeks before death she was diagnosed with a deadly brain cancer.
TASS, 26 Dec. American actress of canadian origin Heather Menzies-Urich, best known for the role in the movie musical “the Sound of music” (The Sound of Music, 1965), died in Ontario at the age of 68 years. This was announced on Monday by Variety magazine, citing her family.
As reported by her son Ryan Urich, actress passed away December 24, surrounded by family members.
According to the publication, four weeks before death she was diagnosed with a deadly brain cancer.
Heather Menzies-Urich born December 3, 1949 in Toronto. In addition to the role of Louisa von Trapp — daughter of one of the main characters in “the Sound of music,” which won five Academy awards, has played in several other films and TV series, among them the Thriller “piranha” (Piranha, 1978) and “Captain America” (Captain America, 1979).
The husband of the actress also died of cancer in 2002, after which Menses-founded the Urich Fund Robert Urich Foundation, dedicated to raising funds for cancer research and support for cancer patients.
