Russia is not going to exacerbate the confrontation with the US, Lavrov said
MOSCOW, 25 Dec — RIA Novosti. Moscow is not going to exacerbate the confrontation with the U.S., but will respond to aggressive attacks, said in an interview with RIA Novosti Russian foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
He noted that despite the growing anti-Russian sentiment in the US, the Russian side “acts pragmatically”.
“Aggressive attacks answer, but confrontation is not going to spur. We will continue to consistently and vigorously defend their positions, returning colleagues in Washington to the fundamental principles on which should be structured bilateral dialogue. Chief among them is the consideration and respect of interests each other. Without this, to improve the relationship is simply impossible, just as unlikely to cooperate effectively in international Affairs”, Lavrov said.
