The Executive Committee of the International biathlon Union (IBU) has decided to lower the status of the Russian biathlon Union (RBU) in the organization to temporary membership. On Sunday, December 10, reported on the website of the IBU.
The SBR restriction of rights means that Russia will lose the right to vote in the IBU Congress, not to Congress or to nominate candidates for elections. The world Cup in Tyumen and two Russian IBU Cup will not be cancelled, and the Russian team will retain their quota.
The issue of restoration of the rights of the RBU will be considered no earlier than the end of the season 2017/18. It should be observed that a number of conditions: the withdrawal of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) suspension from the Olympic Committee of Russia, no violations of doping rules by Russian athletes after January 1, 2017, and the full cooperation of SBR with investigations into alleged violations of anti-doping rules.
It is noted that the IBU Executive Committee may extend the lowering of the status of SBR, if it considers that some of these requirements have not been met.
