Putin arrived to Yamal, where he will discuss projects for the production of LNG
The VILLAGE of SABETTA /Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug/, December 8. /TASS/. The President of Russia Vladimir Putin arrived with working visit in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, where in the village of Sabetta will inspect the plant of “Yamal LNG” and will hold a meeting on the development of projects for the production of liquefied natural gas.
“The head of state inspected the under construction building a second and third stage of the plant for liquefied natural gas, Yamal LNG in Sabetta village, located on the coast of the Kara sea, as well as take part in the ceremony of loading the first tanker-liquefied gas carrier, Christophe de Margerie,” — said the press service of the Kremlin.
The Russian President is closely monitoring the implementation of the project “Yamal LNG”, discussing it as with foreign partners and with the economic bloc of the government and the leadership of NOVATEK. Putin on 3 June attended the ceremony of naming of the tanker “Christophe de Margerie”, and even earlier, on 30 March, participated in a video conference, which was held on the occasion of the first entry of that vessel in the port of Sabetta.
Christophe de Margerie, named after died in a plane crash in Russia, the head of the French Total, the first of 15 new tankers, being built specially for the project “Yamal LNG”. The tanker is able to operate at temperatures down to -52 degrees and to overcome the ice thickness of up to 2.1 meters.
“Yamal LNG” (50,1% NOVATEK, 20% by French Total and Chinese CNPC, and 9.9% of the Fund “silk road”) will be the first plant of NOVATEK on liquefied natural gas. The project is implemented on the basis of the South Tambeyskoye field (Yamal Peninsula) and involves the launch of three technological lines for LNG production capacity of approximately 5.5 million tons per year each. Now commissioned the plant’s first, second and third phase will be commissioned in 2018-2019.
