Venezuelan opposition plans to revise arms contracts with Russia

The Venezuelan opposition, which controls the National Assembly (unicameral Parliament) is going to revise the cost of previously concluded a contract with Russia on deliveries of arms, as well as relations with Moscow in General. With this statement on Tuesday at the Washington Center for strategic and international studies were made by Gustavo briceño Tharr, which Parliament appointed to the post of special envoy of Venezuela to the Organization of American States (OAS).

According to his version, based on the debt of Caracas to Moscow is “the price of weapons.” The politician criticized Russia supplied the weapons, citing a conversation with a retired military air force of Venezuela, whose name was not called. In particular, according to briceño, reassigning the “Dry” allegedly was not fully transparent, and the planes themselves the opposition called “not the best” in terms of technology.
In his speech, briceño also stated on supposedly low quality of the helicopters, which “do not fly in Venezuela” because two thirds of them reportedly fell into disrepair.
The opposition said that Venezuela “will change [list] his best friends”, among which he singled out the DPRK and Russia. In addition, among them he mentioned a “Islamic terrorist organization”, without explaining what it meant. “We must return to our real friends and recognize the struggle for democracy around the world,” he concluded.
