“I guess it is a kind of interference in the electoral process in elections in international organizations. And how else to evaluate? Here is a visual manifestation,” — said Peskov reporters.
A group of four U.S. senators called on the administration of Donald trump and the General Assembly of Interpol to act against the candidacy of major General of the interior Ministry of Russia Alexander Prokopchuk, which is one of the contenders for the head of Interpol.
“This letter we have not seen, we have read the relevant media reports,” — said Peskov.
He agreed with the statement that the actions of senators can be called pressure. “Of course, of course,” he said.
“But, nevertheless, there will be elections, let’s wait for results”, — said the press Secretary of the Russian leader.
Elections of the new head of the Interpol will take place in the framework of the session of the General Assembly of the organization held in the UAE from 18 to 21 November. The former head of Interpol, Meng Hongwei disappeared in late September, he was in China, where he is under investigation on charges of corruption.
