In the Chelyabinsk region in the pond found the monument to Stalin
TASS, 6 August. Volunteers found a four-foot ruined monument to Joseph Stalin in the pond city of Kusa, Chelyabinsk region, when workers lowered the water level to repair the dam. The monument will be restored and transferred to the Museum, told TASS on Monday at city hall.
“At the end of last week in the city pond when the water level was lowered, volunteers found a monument to Joseph Stalin, who has been here for over 60 years. The monument destroyed in two. The monument will be put in order and convey to the city Museum,” — said in the administration.
The head of the city Museum and local history centre Natalia Rostovtseva told TASS that five-foot concrete monument was originally installed in the Park. According to preliminary data, in the winter of 1956 it out of the Park were taken and dropped into the pond through the hole. Apparently, this was done after the speech of the first Secretary of the CPSU Central Committee Nikita Khrushchev, who called for an end to the personality cult of Stalin.
