The Ministry of health transferred suffering from obesity regions
In 2017, the number of Russians who were diagnosed with obesity has increased to 2 million people — 1.3 percent of the population. Over the past five years, the figure rose to 30%. In reality, the proportion of obese may be even higher, according to RBC with reference to the Ministry of health.
Most people diagnosed with obesity in the Altai region — 5.4% of the number of inhabitants. Magadan (3.4%) and Kurgan (2.8 percent) region on the second and third place respectively. Less often obese in 2017 were diagnosed among residents of Moscow (0.5%) and Primorsky territory (0.4 percent).
In the annual statistical digest of the Ministry of health noted the problem of childhood obesity. In particular, in the Jewish Autonomous region, 64% of patients with a diagnosis of “obesity” are children under the age of 17 years. In 14 regions, the figure exceeded 30%. Among them — Kaluga, Volgograd and Ulyanovsk region, Perm Krai, Tuva, North Ossetia, Crimea.
In reality, suffering from obesity in Russia can be even more. “There is a study conducted on this topic every five years. So, as of 2013, the prevalence of obesity among men aged 25 to 64 years was 26.9% among women aged 25 to 64 was 30.8%”, — quotes RBC review of the Ministry of health. The publication clarifies that we are talking about the study “Epidemiology of cardiovascular disease in different regions of Russia.”
