The Armenian President explained the protests in the country accumulated over the years problems

“Armenia has shown that there is civil society, the brave and proud citizens, who are not afraid to Express my own opinion. Regardless of process, regardless of, it is a revolution or not, the important thing is that in the country there are citizens with the right to vote,” he said in an interview with BBC News Sunday.
According to him, mass protests in Armenia are “the result of accumulated over the years of problems.”

Sargsyan also expressed words of support to the former President and ex-Prime Minister of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan. “In other countries and times, the presidents fighting for their political career to end, but Sargsyan has shown the courage, resigned, showing that this country can go in a democratic and free way,” he said.
From 13 April in Yerevan and other cities of Armenia took place many thousands of round-the-clock rallies and protests against the appointment of ex-President Sargsian on post of Prime Minister. At the head of protests arose, opposition MP Nikol Pashinyan. 23 APR Sargsyan has resigned, interim Prime Minister of Armenia, was appointed the representative of the ruling Republican party Karen Karapetyan.
Despite the change of Prime Minister, the protests continued. Pashinyan demanded the ouster of all the members of the Republican party and the election of a new Prime Minister.
