“There will be no interruption to the logical conclusion of our revolution”

After the resignation of the Prime Minister of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan on April 23 protests in Armenia has reached a new level: the protesters are residents of Yerevan believe that in the period up to the early parliamentary elections the country has to manage the “candidate of the people”. Now the responsibilities of the Prime Minister shall be temporarily performed by a member of the ruling Republican party Karen Karapetyan, who refused to negotiate on the change of Prime Minister with opposition leader Nikol Pashinyan. Instead, Mr. Karapetyan invited the opposition to go to elections as “the candidate of the people” is selected there. In protest Wednesday morning, people marched from Republic square to the office of the ruling party. The marchers were chanting “Nikol — Prime Minister!” and “the Republican party, go away!”.
Since the resignation of the Prime Minister of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan has not passed also two days as residents of Yerevan again appeared on the Republic square: the meeting became an alternative to negotiations, which was to be held between the provisional government and the opposition at 10:00 GMT in the capital’s Marriott hotel.
Acting Prime Minister the member of the ruling Republican party Karen Karapetyan refused from communication with Nikol Pashinyan, opposition leader as “unilaterally put forward new requirements,” reads the official statement of the Prime Minister on the website of the Armenian government.
Mr. Karapetyan explained that the protest leader is ready to conduct negotiations only on his terms and only to discuss the stated topics. “This is not a negotiation or a dialogue, and sound their views and their agenda up to define us instead of our negotiators,” said the acting Prime Minister, adding that “I never heard about the talks in this format”.
Fundamental contradictions arose between Nikol Pashinyan and Karen Karapetyan, who should lead the country to early parliamentary elections.
