The US launched a rocket Atlas V
WASHINGTON, April 15 — RIA Novosti. The carrier rocket Atlas V was launched from the spaceport at Cape Canaveral with a mission to space command, U.S. air force, equipped with Russian RD-180 rocket brings into orbit three satellites, the company said the launch operator United Launch Alliance (ULA).
The launch was given at 02.13 GMT on Sunday.
The first stage booster of the Atlas V in 551 configuration, owned by ULA, equipped with Russian RD-180 engine and five solid rocket boosters production company Aerojet-Rocketdyne. In this configuration, the booster is able to bring into geostationary orbit cargo weighing up to 3.8 tonnes.
The rocket displays on the geostationary orbit a military communication satellite CBAS (Continuous Augmenting Broadcast SATCOM) and space vehicle EAGLE (ESPA Augmented GEO Laboratory Experiment). Latest developed by Orbital ATK, according to specialized media, the platform placed at least five experiments for the U.S. armed forces, including subcutis Mycroft.
Approximately seven hours after the launch rocket will deliver the spacecraft in geostationary orbit at an altitude of about 39 thousand kilometers above the equator of the Earth.
