Ethiopia has declared a state of emergency after Prime Minister’s resignation
The Ethiopian government declared a state of emergency in the country after Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn announced his resignation. About it reports Reuters.
On 15 February Mr Desalegn announced the decision to resign as Prime Minister of Ethiopia and leader of the ruling coalition “Revolutionary democratic front Ethiopian people.”
Reuters wrote that there was riots in the country and the need for reform.
Anti-government protests in Ethiopia continue in 2015. They started with the protests of the Oromo peasants against plans to expand the limits of the capital Addis Ababa due to inclusion in the city limits of their land.
After they were joined by ethnic Amhara community, protesting against unjust land policies of the government. From October 2016 to August 2017, the country had a state of emergency. During this time, in the riots killed more than 600 people.
